Abstrakt:

The chapter deals with a functional analysis of the primary religious discourse offered by the New Testament dialogues. It focuses especially on the aspect of ideology and its manifestation in the discourse. The author makes use of the textual analysis provided on the basis of the theory of functional sentence perspective (FSP) elaborated by the Brno branch of the Prague school of linguistics, above all by Jan Firbas (Functional Sentence Perspective in Written and Spoken Communication, CUP 1992). The corpus used for the analysis comprises a number of Biblical texts.
