Abstrakt:
The paper demonstrates that the factors that license the formation of causative constructions with verbs of locomotion (e.g., John walked Mary to the door, John walked himself to the door, John walked his way out of the room) must be sought not only in the verb´s lexical semantic structure but also in the character of the causal structuration of a given motion situation. As opposed to manner of motion verbs, path verbs do not causativize because one cannot posit a causal relation between a given movement and the mover´s translocation.
