Abstrakt: 

Jak ve své studii The Linguistics of Doctor-Patient Communication Rolf Wynn (1995) přesvědčivě prokázal, existuje jen několik málo publikací, které věnují detailní pozornost metodologii výzkumu interakce mezi lékařem a pacientem. Předkládaný text konfrontuje dva nejčastěji aplikované přístupy k analýze lékařských interview (tzv. medical approach a sociolinguistic approach) a nabízí kompromisní řešení. Autor článku je toho názoru, že právě kombinace lékařského a sociolingvistického způsobu výzkumu má potenciál odhalit charakteristické rysy dialogu odehrávajícího se v ordinaci lékaře, a může tak přispět k jeho lepšímu porozumění.
