Abstrakt: 

The present paper discusses the importance of languages for keeping the identity and integrity of nations in multiethnic regions on the example of the Lakota people: one of the most populous North American Indian tribes. It presents an overview of the Lakota language revitalization project, outlines the most recent news regarding revitalization Lakota culture, and points out the role of the Czech linguist and anthropologist Jan Firethunder Ullrich as the main organizer. Moreover, the presentation focuses on the popularity of the Lakota tribe in the Czech Republic, and is summarized with a discussion on the usefulness of revitalizing projects in general.
