Abstrakt: 

Dealing with the thematic build-up of paragraph groups, this paper explores narrow theme paragraph groups in a corpus of contemporary British English texts. It studies their build-up patterns, composition (constituent paragraphs), length, frequency, stylistic affinities, etc. The groups are shown to favour the unfolding pattern, to include less than three paragraphs on average, mostly stable theme ones, and to thrive more in fiction, and less so in journalism.
